Customers and prospective customers often ask us if they are allowed to modify Onlywy’s CAD drawings. The short answer is yes. However, it may be good to start at the beginning by explaining what kinds of drawings are available, how you can request them, and finally, what the advantages are to working with a 3D model of an electrical enclosure.

Onlywy engineer Dr Cai gives us a concise explanation of the types of drawings we can provide:

2D Drawings / Spec Sheets / PDF:

These drawings are simply line drawings or sketches of the enclosure with corresponding dimensions. They are typically requested by technologically savvy customers who may be attempting to develop a new product or invention and do not have expensive design software.

3D Drawings / DXF, dwg, IGES, and SolidWorks:

These enclosure drawings are typically requested by engineers or more sophisticated customers and provide them with the capabilities to manipulate the drawings. Most customers who use these drawings will actually be manipulating the drawing and indicating where they will potentially need cuts or printing on the enclosure. SolidWorks is the most common computer application for 3D Computer-Aided Design. Onlywy can provide an electrical engineer with any of the CAD files mentioned above.
